NORFOLK, Va. | Norfolk State University will be buzzing with excitement this weekend as several athletic events will be held on campus, culminating with the annual Green & Gold Spring Football Scrimmage at William "Dick" Price Stadium.
Norfolk State hosts 11 athletic events on campus this weekend beginning on Thursday and ending Saturday afternoon.
Saturday is loaded with events as five games are scheduled throughout the afternoon. Four games begin at 12 p.m. and end with the spring scrimmage starting at 2 p.m. Tailgating, food trucks, vendors, bounce house, fun, games and more will begin at 11 a.m., and students, alumni and fans can attend all events for free.
FOOTBALL
The football program hosts Junior Day in conjunction with the spring scrimmage on Saturday. More than 200 prospective student-athletes will be on campus for the football festivities. The Spartans will continue to celebrate spring camp with the annual Green & Gold Football Scrimmage inside Dick Price Stadium, beginning at 2 p.m.
BASEBALL
The Spartans begin a three-game Northeast Conference (NEC) series on Thursday against Long Island University (LIU). First pitch for the series opener is at 3 p.m. on Thursday, followed by a 1 p.m. game on Friday. The teams close out the series on Saturday at 12 p.m. at Marty L. Miller Baseball Field.
SOFTBALL
Norfolk State opens a three-game Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) series with South Carolina State, beginning on Friday. The two teams will play a doubleheader Friday starting at 1 p.m. at the NSU Softball Field and close out the series on Saturday at 12 p.m.
TENNIS
The Norfolk State men's and women's tennis programs will be in action on Friday and Saturday. The Spartans play host to North Carolina A&T at 12 p.m. on Friday and wrap up the weekend at 12 p.m. on Saturday against N.C. Central at the NSU Tennis Complex.
