NORFOLK, Va. | Norfolk State University Athletic Department will host its "Heels & Helmets" program on Thursday, August 31 from 6 to 8 p.m. at William "Dick" Price Stadium.
The evening will include a "Football 101" segment which provides unique insight into the game, including chalk talks, football drills, snacks, raffles, and much more.
Sponsored by Tones of Melanin, "Heels & Helmets" is limited to women, and all participants are encouraged to wear athletic clothing and shoes to participate in drills. For those not participating in drills, wear your best dress heels for an opportunity to win prizes.
Tones of Melanin, which has been featured on ABC's Shark Tank and is the first HBCU brand created by a female HBCU graduate, will be on hand with stylish HBCU gear.
In addition, Norfolk State graduate Quinesha Leonard, who is a former Spartan women's basketball player and is currently on the United States Women's Football team, will be assisting in running the camp with NSU head coach
Dawson Odums and his coaching staff.
Leonard and the 2022 U.S. Women's Tackle National Team captured gold at the International Federation of American Football (IFAF) Women's World Championship in Vantaa, Finland this past summer with a 42-14 win over Great Britain in the gold medal match.
Individual registration is $25 and student registration is $10. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. with shopping and a social. The "Football 101" segment will begin at 6 p.m. at Dick Price Stadium.
