GREENVILLE, N.C. --- Senior
Mercyline Kimaiyo earned a 19th-place finish to help lead the Norfolk State women's cross-country team to a 10th-place overall finish at the Pirate Invitational.
The Spartans placed 17-18-50-79-99 for 263 points. The event featured 20 teams with William & Mary winning the event with 19 points.
Kimaiyo posted a 6k time of 22:17.00, leading the Spartans.
Yvone Sandui trailed right behind her, taking 18th (22:23.60).
Sophomore
Sonia Koech placed 50th (23:07.20) while sophomore
Leanna Lewis took 79th place (23:36.20).
Abigael Chebet rounded out the Spartans' five scores, clocking a time of 24:01.60 to place 99th.
Outside of the top five scorers, Norfolk State saw strong performances from
Ludjenie Mondesir (24:47.00),
Emani Thompson (25:30.50), and
Amira Dailey (25:45.70).
Norfolk State will next compete in Earlysville, Va. on Oct. 19 at the Panorama Farms Invite.
