Chichester Helps Spartans to 3rd-Place Finish at UMES

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – Norfolk State senior Jennifer Chichester (Silver Spring, Md.) ran a season-best time of 18:50.19 to place fourth overall and help the Spartan women's cross country team to a third-place finish on Saturday morning at the Cappy Anderson Invitational hosted by Maryland Eastern Shore.

Sophomore Kellen Rutto (Eldoret, Kenya) ran a personal-best 3.1-mile time of 18:57.53 to finish fifth overall, just behind Chichester.

Junior Jamia Hutto (Orlando, Fla.) was third among the Spartan women in 22nd place (20:29.01). Classmate Syeeda Gee (Philadelphia, Pa.) was next in 26th place (20:32.74), and freshman Lillian Morales-Gonzalez (San Antonio, Texas), making her season debut, rounded out the top five in 30th (20:46.70).

The Spartans are back in action next Saturday at the William & Mary Colonial Inter-Regional Challenge.
