Women's Results: UMES Cappy Anderson Invitational
PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - Sophomore Faith Summey paced the Norfolk State women's cross country team on Saturday, finishing in first place overall to help the Spartans claim the team title at the UMES Cappy Anderson Invitational.
Summey finished the 5K (3.1-mile) course with a season-best time of 19:00.90. Junior Fiona Masai was next for NSU, finishing second in a time of 19:08.40. Sophomores Rachel Webb (19:53.30) and Purity Mitei (20:33.20) also had top ten finishes, placing fifth and ninth overall.
Juniors Kassandra Irizarry and Ra'Shaun Combs finished 18th and 22nd overall. Irizarry finished in 21:37.50 and Combs completed the race in 21:56.80.
In the team competition, NSU led the way with 35 points, followed by Seton Hall (47), Howard (73), Maryland Eastern Shore (97), Delaware State (125) and Coppin State (133).
The Spartans are off next weekend. Their next meet is on Oct. 5 at the George Mason Invitational in Leesburg, Va.
