NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Junior
Rachel Webb notched a ninth-place finish Saturday at the Christopher Newport Invitational to lead the Spartan women's cross country team to a third-place finish.
Webb clocked a time of 24 minutes, 12.8 seconds on the 6,000-meter course. NSU tallied 79 points at the meet, behind William & Mary's 21 and VCU's 39.
Rounding out NSU's top five were
Kassandra Irizarry in 24th (28:44.8),
Jazmine Vaughan in 25th (29:25.3),
Kaydianne McKenzie in 26th (30:02.2) and
Rayiana Johnson in 27th (32:55) place.
The Spartans have this week off before competing at the MEAC Cross Country Championship in Dover, Del. on Nov. 1.
