SMYRNA, Del. – Adugna Desalegn ran a personal-best 5,000-meter time of 19 minutes, 18.1 seconds last Friday to pace the Spartan women in their fifth-place finish at the Delaware State Hornet Invitational.
 
Desalegn finished fourth overall as NSU recorded 127 team points, trailing, UMES (38), Morgan State (38), Howard (82) and Delaware State (104).
 
Rachel Webb was NSU's next-highest finisher. She ran a time of 20:10.6 to finish 12^th. The Spartans top five was rounded out by Kaydianne McKenzie (23:53.2) in 37^th, Jazmine Vaughan (24:03.2) in 38^th and Courtney Kearse (27:02.5) in 53^rd.
 
The Spartans are off this week before competing at the CNU Invitational on Oct. 18.
