2014 MEAC Women's XC ResultsSMYRNA, Del. – Norfolk State junior
Adugna Desalegn earned All-MEAC honors by placing 13th on Saturday morning at the 2014 MEAC Cross Country Championship at the Delaware State University Outreach and Research Center.
Desalegn covered the rain-soaked 5,000-meter course in 19 minutes, 44.80 seconds to pace the Spartan women, who came in eighth place as a team. Desalegn was the only Spartan to place in the top 15 overall and thus earn All-MEAC honors. Spartan junior
Rachel Webb just missed all-conference accolades, finishing 16th overall and second among NSU competitors in a time of 19:58.20.
Senior
Kassandra Irizarry was NSU's next-highest finisher. She crossed the finish line in 57th (54th for scoring purposes) in 22:39.20. Rounding out the Spartans' top five were
Kaydianne McKenzie in 72nd (68 for scoring) in 24:13.10 and
Jazmine Vaughan in 73rd (69th) in 24:30.40.
Florida A&M won its third straight MEAC women's title with 38 points, well ahead of runner-up Morgan State's 70. NSU had 220.
