BALTIMORE, Md. – Junior
Kiara Howell finished in third place in both the shot put and discus over the weekend for the Spartan women's track and field team at the Morgan State Legacy Meet.

Howell recorded a season-best throw in the shot put. Her best effort went 45 feet, 6.25 inches, the fourth-best mark in the conference this season. Howell's top throw in the discus went 138-10, also good for third place.

Brittney McCants and
Fawzia Kheir also posted season-best efforts in their respective races. McCants placed fourth in the 100 meter dash in a time 11.82 seconds, .02 quicker that her previous season best. Kheir finished in ninth place in the 1,500 meters in a time of 4:46.19, some nine seconds better than her previous best time.

Other top finishers on the track included
Jazmine Vaughan's fifth-place effort in the 100 hurdles (14.76), and the 4x100 team of McCants, Vaughan,
Kaydianne McKenzie and
Torie Cunningham that placed sixth in a time of 47.31 seconds.

In other field events, McKenzie posted a season-best triple jump of 39 feet, 3 inches to finish in fifth place.
Tiara Davis took fifth in the pole vault (10-10.25) and teammate
Te'Shaibrah Myles was eighth (10-4.25). Freshman
Brianna Hayes cleared 5-4.25 to claim sixth place in the high jump.
