Day 2 ResultsGREENSBORO, N.C. – Led by a pair of top-four finishes in field events, the Norfolk State women's track and field team sits in fourth place after the second day of competition at the 2015 MEAC Outdoor Championships at the Irwin Belk Track on the campus of North Carolina A&T.
Bethune-Cookman leads the women's competition with 38.33 points, following by Morgan State (38), Florida A&M (33) and NSU (26).
Senior
Kaydianne McKenzie had the top performance for the Spartan women on Friday, finishing as the runner-up in the long jump. McKenzie jumped a season-best 5.66 meters (18 feet, 7 inches).
In the shot put, junior
Kiara Howell took fourth place with a best throw of 13.53 meters (44-4.75), one day after she won the discus.
Two Spartans excelled on the track Friday in the heats of their respective events. Junior
Jazmine Vaughan clocked a personal-best in the 100 meter hurdles, posting a time of 14.01 seconds. She was the third-fastest qualifier for Saturday's final. Senior
Brittney McCants ran a season-best time in the 100 meter dash. McCants clocked a time of 11.78 seconds, the fourth-fastest time in Friday's heats.
The competition concludes Saturday, with events scheduled to start at 9 a.m.
