Meet ResultsUNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Steve Coles and
Allan Frye both won event titles to highlight the Spartan men's track and field team's performance over the weekend at the Penn State Relays.
Coles and Frye didn't show any rust from a month-long layoff for the semester break. Coles clocked the top 200-meter time in the MEAC so far this year, 21.29 seconds, to win that event. He also placed fifth in the 500m in 1:05.26.
Frye ran a season-best time of 8.08 seconds to win the 60-meter hurdles, a time which ranks third-best in the conference after Saturday. Frye was one of three Spartans to place in the top four in that event, with
Marcus Anderson third (8.28) and
Ryan Turner fourth (8.37).Â
Chris Lee posted the highest finish in the field events Saturday. Lee took third in the shot put with a top throw of 53 feet, 2.25 inches, breaking his own school record by two inches that he set last year at the same track. In other field events,
Joseph Boyd tied for seventh in the high jump (6-5) and
Da'trail Hockaday was eighth in the weight throw (50-2.5).
The Spartans compete in two meets this week, a tri-meet at Hampton on Wednesday and then the Joe Hilton Invitational at the University of North Carolina this weekend.
