Steve Coles,
Chris Lee,
Michael-Thomas Brown and
Haileyesus Demsie all won their respective events Wednesday night at the Spartan men's track and field team competed in a mid-week tri-meet hosted by Hampton University at the Boo Williams Sportsplex.
Coles was victorious for the second time in less than a week. Coles, who won the 200m last weekend at Penn State, won the 500m at Hampton in 1:05.64. Lee won the shot put with a top throw of 52 feet, 3.75 inches.
Brown leaped 23-7.25 to win the long jump as the Spartans' claimed the top three places.
Marcus Taylor, competing in his first meet as a Spartan, was second in 23-2.75, and
Romero Hines placed third in 22-10.
Demsie won the 3,000m on Wednesday, clocking a time of 8:48.89. The Spartans accounted for four of the top five finishers in that event.
Elsewhere on the track, freshman
Justin Pinder was second in the 500m (1:05.75), Taylor took third in the 60m (7.03) and the 4x400 relay team placed second in 3:21.21.
The Spartans are back in action this weekend at the University of North Carolina.
