George Mason Invitational Women's Results
LEESBURG, Va. – Sophomore
Candice Higgins paced the Norfolk State women's cross country team to a third-place finish at the George Mason Invitational on Saturday morning. Higgins finished the 6,000-meter course in 16
th place with a time of 24 minutes, 30.7 seconds.
Higgins has led the team in all three events the Spartans have run this season.
Freshmen took the final four positions for the Spartans.
Caroline Samoei made her collegiate debut with a 19th-place finish (24:58.4), while
Linei Woodson finished 20th with a time of 25:07.4.
Ashah Koech completed the course in 26th place with a time of 25:38.1 and
Nelly Jerop ran a time of 26:43.7, crossing the line in 30th to round out Norfolk State's top five.
Kent State claimed the team victory with 25 points and George Mason finished second with 39 points. Norfolk State was third, with 92 points. Mount Saint Mary's and Christendom College finished in fourth and fifth with 94 and 128 points, respectively.
The Spartans will next be in action at the Christopher Newport Invitational in Yorktown, Va., on Saturday, Oct. 15.
