UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Senior
Rashad Ramsey placed second in the 400 meters and helped the Spartans' 4x400 meter relay team post its best time of the year for the NSU men's track and field team at the Penn State National meet this weekend.
Â
Ramsey clocked a time of 48.93 seconds, his best time – indoors or outdoors – in the quarter-mile at NSU. Freshman
Jaylen Banks was sixth in the same event, posting a time of 49.70 seconds.
Â
Those two also formed half of the Spartans' 4x400 relay team. They, along with
Allan Frye and
Justin Pinder, competed in the invitational section of the 4x400 relay and placed fifth in 3 minutes, 16.82 seconds. That marks the fastest time of the year for NSU and is the fourth-fastest in the MEAC this year.
Â
Felix Kiprotich (mile) and
Ronald Korir (3,000m) led the Spartan middle and long-distance runners at Penn State. Both posted the fastest times for a Spartan this year in their respective events. Kiprotich placed eighth in the mile (4:16.72) and Korir was ninth in the 3,000m (8:30.94). Both are the second-best times among MEAC athletes this indoor season.
Â
Garth Warner and
Chris Lee continued to show consistency in their events at PSU. Warner placed ninth in the high jump (6 feet, 7.5 inches) and Lee won his flight and took sixth overall in the shot put (54-8.75).
Â
The Spartans are back in action next weekend at CNU's Vince Brown Invitational in Newport News, their last tuneup before the MEAC Indoor Championship in mid-February.
