Spartans Represent Well at Pirate Invitational

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The Norfolk State women's cross country team turned in another strong performance on Saturday at the ECU Pirate XC Invitational, taking sixth in the team standings.
 
Junior Mercyline Kimaiyo posted the top time for the Spartans, finishing the 6k course eighth in 22 minutes, 28.2 seconds.
 
Kara Grant placed 33rd in 23:43.1. Jahmei Wyatt (23:48.7) and Ludjenie Mondesir (23:51.8) followed closely behind in 36th and 39th, respectively.
 
Leanna Lewis rounded out the Spartans' top-five with a time of 24:22.8, while Dorcas Kosgei clocked a 24:28.1.
 
East Carolina won the team title with four point scorers in the top 10 standings of the event.
 
Norfolk State now has two weeks to prepare for the highly anticipated 2023 MEAC Cross Country Championships, taking place on Saturday, Oct. 28 in Smyrna, Del.
